Socio-Economic Development commitment

Local communities within the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality, namely Kathu, Kuruman and surrounding villages in the district are the direct beneficiaries of Kathu Solar Park’s socio-economic development (SED) programme. These programmes, which commenced at the time of the project’s operations phase have been developed following engagement with stakeholders and have a keen focus on education, health, and welfare.

Many of the SED initiatives are developed and implemented in collaboration with corporates and local stakeholders within the surrounding towns to ensure greater impact.

Kathu Solar Park Local Community Trust will utilize dividends obtained from the project to implement socio-economic development projects within the identified disadvantaged communities.

Furthermore, KSP has a structured process whereby eligible local suppliers can participate in SED initiatives.
