Demonstrating a commitment to environmental preservation and local employment initiatives, Kathu Solar Park donated cleaning equipment and tools to the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality. This support is part of local efforts to maintain a clean, tidy, and litter-free parks, streets, and sidewalks throughout the district.

Zandile Nkone, Chief Executive Officer of Kathu Solar Park, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative: “Supporting our local municipality is crucial for building a stronger, more vibrant community. By investing in our local government’s initiatives, we are not only improving the quality of life, but also contributing to the overall well-being of our society. As stakeholders, we should show our appreciation for our local government’s hard work by getting involved, volunteering, and supporting their efforts. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our community.”

This initiative aligns with Kathu Solar Park’s broader Economic Development goals, which include supporting job creation to alleviate unemployment in the district. By providing these tools, the project not only aids in environmental conservation but also generates 1,932 temporary job opportunities within the district, driving forward Kathu Solar Park’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development.

The contribution consists of nearly 2,000 litter-picking sticks and rakes, alongside 90,000 black refuse bags. These tools are provided for the EPWP workers, enabling them to perform thorough and efficient clean-ups.
